Titan
A distributed property graph database that stored graphs in pluggable backends such as Apache Cassandra, Apache HBase and Oracle BerkeleyDB, queried with Gremlin. Development stopped after DataStax acquired its developer Aurelius in 2015; continued as the JanusGraph fork and inside DataStax Enterprise Graph.

Titan graphs are opened in-process with TitanFactory; with the BerkeleyDB backend everything runs in the application's JVM with no separate server.

Since BerkeleyDB runs in the same JVM as Titan, this storage backend is ideally suited for unit testing of application code using Titan.
